We budget-conscious parents are always looking for a deal, yes? The Alaska Railroad offers a number of discounts and deals to families who take the train around the 49th state. For example, in the Great Alaskan TourSaver, AKRR offers a 2-for-1 deal on their Denali Star trip from Anchorage to Talkeetna, either one way or round trip, for $70-$89 one-way. It’s a great way to spend some family time and enjoy the benefits of a choo-choo trip for the kiddos.
Another goodie is the Glacier Disovery train that heads to the Spencer Whistlestop, a lovely trip AK Fam took last July. In fact, a story is headed your way in the June issue of Coast magazine detailing our incredible day. Tickets for this 2-for-1 deal are a low $64.
Susie Kiger of the RR also encourages Alaskans to check the AKRR web site, because we can save up to 20% on trips. Wow! We love a business that wants residents, and the Railroad is a super way to introduce kids of any age to the scenery that surrounds their world.
If you haven’t purchased your TourSaver book yet, you can get one (for a mere $99) online at the web site linked above, or go to any Carrs/Safeway store and find them at the Customer Service counter. Thank goodness for this book, it has given AK Fam a ton of great ideas and opportunities, and with the Extended Fam visiting in a few short months, we’re all set for more family fun!
