(This is a sponsored post on behalf of Eaglecrest Ski Area in Juneau, Alaska.)
When AKontheGO wants to go skiing, we try to find an excuse to hop an Alaska Airlines jet (using those wonderful miles, of course) and fly south. South, you say?
Indeed, for in the capital city of Juneau lies a community ski hill that not only embraces the winter season with great snow and plenty of terrain for my average-skiing family (read: Two old parents and one kid who just likes to have fun); Eaglecrest Ski Area gets kids and the spirit of working together for the happiness of everyone. And that, my friends, stands for a lot.
This weekend is the annual Discover Eaglecrest Day event. If you are in Juneau, or find yourself in Juneau, I highly encourage you to attend. Everything you need for healthy and fun family time is right there.
Winter is just around the corner and the Eaglecrest Ski Area is celebrating with the annual Discover Eaglecrest Day on Saturday, September 17th from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Discover Eaglecrest Day is a great day to explore all that Eaglecrest has to offer whether you are a long-time season pass holder or looking for a new winter activity!
Discover Eaglecrest Day is a fun-filled day on the mountain with activities for all ages. Enjoy free lift rides up the Porcupine Chair. Purchase a bit of Eaglecrest history at the Eaglecrest Foundation Silent Auction. Play a round of disc golf with Discovery Southeast. Go on a “Bear Hunt” and enjoy winter and snow themed stories with the Juneau Public Library. Stop by the GCI booth for a souvenir photo!
Have kids who want to ski, but you’re not sure how to size up their gear? The good folks at EC will be hosting personal sizing sessions all day long, and if you’re renting for the season or thinking of purchasing new gear, this is a huge advantage.
Alaska Zipline Adventures is offering specially priced tours through Eaglecrest’s beautiful mountain landscape. Advance reservations are required, so please call them at 907-321-0947.
Fatmo’s will be on the mountain selling their famous BBQ, Gla-Scholl Grind will be selling shaved ice and the Juneau Ski Club will be hosting a bake sale. The Alaska Zipline Beer & Wine Garden will be open for those over 21.
Eaglecrest season passes, multi-visit cards, seasonal lockers and Snowsports School programs are on sale now. These can be purchased at Eaglecrest during Discover Eaglecrest Day. Season Passes & multi-visit cards can also be purchased at Nugget Alaskan Outfitter, Foggy Mountain Shop, online at www.skijuneau.com or by calling 907-790-2000 x214.
Information on Mountain Safety, the Dimond Park Fieldhouse, ORCA Adaptive programs, and more will also be available.
We invite you up to the mountain to discover why Eaglecrest is Juneau’s Winter Playground!
