AKontheGO Fam loves to investigate new ways of having fun in Alaska, and this weekend is going to provide the perfect method to our madness…
Alaska Coast magazine, staunch supporters of AKontheGO, is sponsoring its second Oxygen and Octane outdoor expo October 16-18 at the gorgeous Dena’ina Convention center in downtown Anchorage. It’s 50,000 square feet of stuff, services, and activities showcasing everything Alaskans like to do in the wintertime.
Snowmachining, skiing, hiking, running, biking, hottubbing (yes, we here at AK Fam consider this to be a winter activity); it’s all there for families to experience this weekend. Vendors will be on hand to answer questions, make reservations, and sell gear; we scored some nice socks and Crocs last year.
Kids will enjoy the climbing wall and other activities while parents peruse the booths. Try stopping for lunch at McGinley’s across the street, or Husky Subs, where you can fill everyone up for not too much money. Or, pack a picnic and eat in the lobby of Dena’ina, where hanging art fills the space and kids can look for their favorite sea creature.
AKontheGO Fam is making their way up North from Portland, not wanting to miss the show. Admission is FREE, and the expo will go on until 8 p.m. We’ll see you there!
