Travel Tuesday was full of Alaska family fun this week with KTVA 11 Daybreak. From gardens to road trips, AKontheGO’s monthly appearance on Channel 11 was, as usual, lots of fun.

The Alaska Railroad Spencer Whistlestop train is running for another few days, so hop on board to see glaciers, rivers, changing leaves, and perhaps a bear or two. It’s such a worthwhile trip for the whole family. Hint: Drive to Portage and catch the train from there. At a mere 20 minutes, it’s a sure-fire way of making everyone happy. On Sunday, September 11, the Alaska Botanical Garden is hosting their annual Harvest Festival. Bring 3 cans of food and receive $5/pp admission. It’s a great way to wander the gardens, eat some food, listen to some music, and usher in autumn while supporting organizations that help the less fortunate.
Hey, did you run in the Tuesday Night Races this week? Every Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at a variety of Anchorage park locations, TNR are a ton of fun for the entire family. Everyone, from baby to grandparent is welcome to walk, run, or roll his or her way along the trails of our city. Every Tuesday evening through November 1, rain, shine, or snowfall.
Looking for a road trip? Visit the Alaska SeaLife Center in Seward for their new fall hours and some new animal encounters! Two octopus encounters and a sea otter encounter now though mid-October. EEEEK! So. Adorable.
