The Alaska Travelgram Show went on-location this week at the beautiful and memorable Alaska Native Heritage Center in east Anchorage. Sound engineer Kirby Kauffman, Scott and I managed to pull together quite the program, with drumming stories by Mattox Metcalf, a stalwart figure at the Center, and our special guest, Melissa Saunders, Sales and Marketing Director for the center. You will absolutely want to listen in, right HERE. This is a great show!
Scott kicked it into high gear this week with his Alaska Airlines Club 49 deals o’ the week; Honolulu sound good? Better hurry, tomorrow night (Thursday, May 3) is the last chance for this toasty warm, sandy deal!
Our special guest, Melissa Saunders, was the perfect hostess for our entourage, and provided the team with a ton of interesting information about this special facility, at the end of Muldoon Road. The center opens for the 2012 summer season on Sunday, May 13, just in time for Mother’s Day celebrations. ALL moms get in free that day, and everyone can enjoy music, dancing, drumming, and activities for the kids.
Melissa also gave us a virtual tour of the Native Heritage Center, from the beautiful maps inside to authentic dwellings outdoors, and anyone who ventures to Alaska should indeed make a stop here. Alaska residents receive a discount, by the way! Try the convenient shuttle, or purchase a Culture Pass and receive admission to both the Anchorage Museum and Native Heritage Center.
Did you hear our fabulous music, too? In addition to the sounds of Mattox Metcalf, we also heard “Pipes Canyon Sunset” by Michael Mucklow, and other tunes via the great music site MEVIO.com.
