In this edition of the show, I reflect upon the incredible commissioning of the USS San Diego last weekend, in preparation for the same event here next spring. The USS Anchorage commissioning ceremony will be full of pomp, circumstance, and Navy tradition, complete with a healthy dose of Alaskan hospitality. You won’t want to miss this epic event in April 2013.
While AK Dad and I were anchors aweigh in San Diego, Scott was up in Talkeetna; way, way up in Talkeetna, soaring around the flanks of Denali with Talkeetna Aero Services. Talkeetna in the spring and summer is a delightful and interesting place to be; from food to jet boats to high-flying adventures, this little village has big mojo.
I also played around with my mobile mic and caught some seascapes for your listening pleasure. I even channeled my inner naturalist for some commentary about things happening around me.
Big thanks to our sound engineer, Kirby Kauffman, who does such a fabulous job pasting together our random sounds. We knew she was the gal for us when she came into our recording space lugging this vintage Samsonite overnight case to carry all her wires and headphones and such. She rocks.
Don’t forget to subscribe to our show on iTunes, folks. It’s the best way to keep up to date with our summertime travels!
