Alaska Travelgram Podcast: LIVE From Era Alaska!

The Team works hard interviewing our guests Micah and Mike in the Era Alaska hangar.

Sometimes the Travelgram Team just has to break away and go somewhere different. This week we settled in at the main hangar of Era Alaska, our state’s leader in regional air travel. We wandered the place, peered into a few aircraft engines, ate several cookies, and eventually sat down to chat with our guests. It was a fun show, so listen up right HERE.

Big thanks to Micah Lillard, Era’s Marketing Manager, for allowing us to overtake the hangar for an hour or so during a busy workday. Micah was a wealth of knowledge about Era, sharing some tips for busy Alaska travelers, and giving us the 4-1-1 on Era’s 100 destinations.

Our second guest of the day was Mike Yorke with the FAA. Mike provided some interesting information regarding the Medallion Foundation’s “Circle of Safety” program that encourages personal responsibility on the part of pilots and passengers who travel aboard aircraft in Alaska. Well, anywhere, really. Do you know what to do? Check out the Circle of Safety, HERE.

Talkin' fish with Colleen Stephens.

It was fun sharing AK Fam’s adventures last weekend in Valdez, and we came back with some fun sounds of the hamlet-by-the-sound. Here I am interviewing one of our favorite peeps, Colleen Stephens of Stan Stephens Glacier and Wildlife Cruises. She was most accommodating as I asked her myriad questions about the uber-fun Pink Salmon Festival.

Scott threw in his two cents about his equally-fun weekend near Seldovia at the Across the Bay Tent and Breakfast, where kayaking was the order of the day.

We always love to have our sound engineer Kirby find awesome tunes for the show, and this week she has a bundle of Alaska-themed songs, including:

Be Like the Sun by Rick Zelinsky

Alaska Song by Scott Merrick (MEVIO.com)

Breakdown Shakedown by Jake Lear (MEVIO.com)

Oh Alaska by The Robbie Boyd Band (MEVIO.com)

and Alaska Song by The Buffali (MEVIO.com)

Tune in next week, and in the  meantime, travel more! It gives us something to talk about.
