After four days talking travel at the annual Alaska Travel Industry Association convention, my head is about to explode. There is so much going on in the world of Alaska travel and tourism, loyal AKontheGO’ers. New products, enhanced services, and a ton of enthusiasm for the concept of family travel, too. No kidding – every single person I talked with was jazzed to promote their kid-friendliness, or desire to become kid-friendly, and that is how we make Alaska family travel the best it can be!
I am, however, quite happy for the weekend to appear, like this most welcome sunshine. I’m itching to get outside and enjoy the last days of autumn with AK FAm, and this is the time of year when activities start flying into the AKontheGO calendar of events, so do make sure and check out the latest and greatest in Alaska family fun. We’ve got you covered, yes we do.
Today is Follow Friday on Twitter; a weekly “time to shine” for followers and followees. So in that spirit of sharing, check out some links we love, and who love us back (I think).
Alaska Travelgram: My former radio cohost is still cranking out the best deals for airfares around the world, including new service to Anchorage via Icelandair in 2013. Subscribe to Scott McMurren’s newsletter and be the first to know what’s what in the world of travel.
ABC Motorhome: Hello…..Deep discounts for early bookings in 2013! See Alaska your way, on your own schedule, and with your own family or friends. Way fun, and more affordable than you might think.
Homer Chamber of Commerce: One of our best bets for family-friendly activities, the entire community is part of our Family-Approved Business listing, and with good reason. Hit this little town at the end of the Sterling Highway, any time of year, and see why.
Hallo Bay Bear Camp: Did you know that lead guide, Simyra Hlebechuk, won a silver award at Wanderlust’s World Guide Awards last week? Just another reason to choose Hallo Bay for an outstanding, respectful, and safe bear-viewing adventure. AND, folks, AKontheGO is working with Hallo Bay to develop some appropriate activities at camp for younger members of the family. Stay tuned!
Inner Sea Discoveries: Our favorite small-ship cruise company won an award at the ATIA convention for their innovative, UN-believable, and UN-precedented UN-cruise experiences. Want to show the kids southeast Alaska by boat? This is the way to do it. Best trip, ever.
This ought to be plenty to start thinking about your family’s next Alaska adventure. Not sure where to begin? Give us a shout, we’ll be glad to help! email@example.com, or find us on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest.
