Alaska Kayak School Brings More Classes to Anchorage

Hey, lookie here: Alaska Kayak School and owner Tom Pogson of Homer are returning to Anchorage every month for more classes in the art of sea kayaking. AND, Tom says, they are also hosting another wildly popular Youth Skills Development class! If you have a kid ages 9-13, there is no better class to learn the valuable skills needed for taking to waterways in Alaska.

Alaska Kayak School is the only kayaking school certified by the British Canoe Association, a top-notch and incredibly reputable organization that trains world-known instructors in all things kayak. Tom Pogson and crew are hoping some of the Anchorage students will make the trek down to Homer this May for an opportunity to test mettle against the sea and practice what they’ve learned among the beauty of Halibut Cove, across Kachemak Bay from Homer May 28-June 1.

Classes are scheduled for January 15-16, February 13-14, March 13-14, April 10-11, and April 24-25. All classes are held at either East High School (the preferred venue lately), or Service High School. Tom will give students the details when they sign up.

You won’t do better than Tom, parents. AK Fam would trust him with their precious cargo, no matter their age!

Alaska Kayak School can also rent boats and gear for visitors to Alaska who have experience navigating sea kayaks and can prove it to Tom and/or his staff. His attention to safety makes for a worthwhile adventure, especially in the chilly waters
