Fostering parent/child relationships is but one goal of Campbell Creek Science Center

We’re just so darned proud of the Friends of Campbell Creek Science Center  we can hardly stand it. The group’s president, Joette Storm emailed me yesterday and said they had won the Bureau of Land Management’s Public Lands Partnership Excellence Award. Whoa, that’s some kind of recognition only in existence since 2005.

Since that time, the group has taken on an ambitious awareness campaign, bringing residents of Anchorage, and indeed the rest of Alaska, to visit the incredible facility and grounds off Elmore Road. Building community partnerships among area businesses has allowed for purchase of equipment and supplies that led to the outdoor education of 5,000 Anchorage school children as part of an outdooor ed program. In addition, the group helps organize periodic events to celebrate and embrace the family as a vital component to Nature’s balance.

We’ve written before about CCSC; this just reinforces AK Fam’s belief that places that support and nurture our kids and parents, together, are destined for greatness.

We’re proud of you!
