Deal Alert! Prince William Sound Cruise

Okay, this isn't Prince William Sound, but the views you'll see are similarly gorgeous!

Okay, this isn't Prince William Sound, but the views you'll see are similarly gorgeous!

Hey, remember the Prince William Sound jaunt we recommended a month or so ago because kids were free? Happy day, CIRI Tours and Cruises  is doing it again, with the Kids Cruise Free Encore, now through September 12, 2010.

For every adult who purchases a ticket for the Prince William Sound Glacier Cruise, a child in the party (11 and under) will sail FREE! The cruise is a six-hour, fully-narrated tour of the lovely Prince William Sound, and lunch is included. Goody. Sailings depart at 11 a.m. and return at 5 p.m. in Whittier, and are a great way to introduce family and friends to the splendor of Alaska as the seasons begin to change.

Word to the wise: Be Prepared for Weather. Like Rain, Rain, and More Rain. But that said, if everyone is dressed appropriately, happiness will prevail, no matter the conditions.

I’ve been kicking around the CIRI web site, and find it a bit clunky, so call 1-877-777-4054 for reservations and the discount. It’s easier.

Let the wildlife viewing begin!

Fun Happenings at Native Heritage Center on Monday

Erin Kirkland

A hot tip for parents looking for something to do on Monday, August 2. The wonderful Alaska Native Heritage Center  is hosting any and all children at Kids’ Day, all day. Any kiddo age 18 or younger gets in FREE at the Center, located at the north end of Muldoon Road, near Bartlett High School.

With the construction of their Kids’ Art area last summer, the Native Heritage Center is opening even more doors to understanding of Native Alaskan heritage, culture, and customs, to say nothing of their incredible outdoor Village Sites, where a number of different dwellings are open for inspection. We love this place.

So, doors open at 9 a.m. Grab the kids and their friends and head on over. This is a day not to be missed!

For more info or directions, visit the Center’s web site HERE, or call 330-8000.
